As a major steel-producing country, China has long regarded steel as a production base and categorized steel structure factories into light steel structure factories and heavy steel structure factories.
The construction of steel structure workshops mainly includes the following aspects:
- Steel structure processing and embedded materials (which can stabilize the structure on-site)
- The columns of steel structure workshops are usually made of H-beams or C-beams (angle steel is generally used to connect two C-beams)
- For steel structure beams, C-beams and H-beams are commonly adopted (the height of the middle section is determined by the span of the beam)
- Purlins: C-beams and Z-beams are generally used. They usually serve as supports and tension rods for round steel.
- There are two types of color steel tiles: one is single-layer color steel tiles, and the other is composite panels.
The main advantages of steel structure workshops are as follows:
- Light weight, high strength, and large span: With high strength, steel structures have small self-weight under stress, so they can be made into structures with relatively large spans.
- Short construction period of steel structures: On-site frame components are mainly prefabricated in factories, and then transported to the construction site for installation, making assembly-type construction convenient.
- High fire resistance: When the surface temperature is within 150℃, its strength does not change significantly; when the temperature exceeds 150℃, the strength decreases obviously. Usually, fire-retardant coatings are applied to the surface of steel structures to form a protective film, thereby improving the fire resistance rating of components. Undoubtedly, the reasonable division of fire compartments and the use of fire shutters are of great importance.
